How to choose the right profile setup
A profile is a separate working environment for one social profile, account, or task. Use a cloud phone when the work needs a mobile app, and a browser profile when it happens on the web.
➡️ Mobile app → cloud phone. Website or browser tool → browser profile.
Once you know the environment, choose the storage, browser type, and session type based on where you’ll use the profile and how long you need to keep it.
Who can use this feature?
- 👨💻 Account owner and all team members
- 💰 Available on all plans
Pick the environment
Start with where the actual work happens. A native mobile app needs a cloud phone, while a website or browser-based tool needs a browser profile.
Need a mobile app?
Use a cloud phone. Cloud phones use mobile minutes, so they make the most sense when the workflow actually needs Android. For web-only tasks, use a browser profile.
| Option | Best for | Benefits |
|---|---|---|
| Cloud phone | TikTok, Instagram, Facebook mobile workflows, Android apps, touch or camera flows, and mobile automation | Runs on a real Android device in the cloud and keeps app data, login history, and the mobile environment with that profile |
| Browser profile | Reddit, YouTube web, seller centers, ad dashboards, CRMs, web apps, browser extensions, and browser automation | Keeps website sessions separate with its own cookies, session data, fingerprint settings, and proxy settings |
Pick where to store a browser profile
Storage controls where browser profile data lives and whether you can open the same profile from another computer.
Cloud phones don’t use browser profile storage
Cloud phones are already stored in the cloud, so the local vs cloud storage choice only applies to browser profiles.
| Option | Best for | Benefits |
|---|---|---|
| Cloud storage | Teams, profile handoffs, or switching between computers | Keeps profile data in the cloud so the same profile can be accessed from another device |
| Local storage | Work that stays on one computer and doesn’t need to be shared | Keeps the profile data on that computer instead of syncing it through cloud storage |
Pick the browser type
The browser type controls which browser environment the profile uses.
Starting a new browser profile?
Choose Mimic unless your workflow specifically depends on Stealthfox. Stealthfox is a legacy browser and no longer receives browser core updates.
| Option | Best for | Benefits |
|---|---|---|
| Mimic | Most new profiles, modern websites, Chrome-based workflows, and browser automation | Actively receives browser core updates and is the recommended choice for most new browser profiles |
| Stealthfox | Existing Firefox-based workflows that still depend on it | Keeps older Firefox-style setups working when changing the browser environment isn’t practical |
Pick a regular or quick browser profile
Choose based on whether you need to keep the profile after the current session.
Need to keep a quick profile?
Save it as a regular profile before you stop it.
| Option | Best for | Benefits |
|---|---|---|
| Regular | Accounts you return to, ongoing client work, stores, dashboards, or long-term sessions | Keeps the profile and its saved browser data so you can continue the same workflow later |
| Quick | One-off checks, short QA runs, temporary tasks, or sessions you don’t need to keep | Exists only for the current session and is deleted when you stop it, so there’s nothing to clean up afterward |
FAQs
Should I choose a cloud phone or a browser profile?
- Choose a cloud phone when the work needs a native Android app, such as TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook mobile.
- Choose a browser profile when the work happens on a website or in a browser-based tool, such as Reddit, YouTube web, a seller center, CRM, or ad dashboard.
Can I use the same browser profile on different computers?
Yes, if the browser profile uses cloud storage. Local browser profiles stay on the computer where their data is stored.
Can I run multiple accounts on the same website with different browser profiles?
Yes. Each browser profile keeps its own cookies, session data, fingerprint settings, and proxy settings.
Which browser type should I choose if I’m unsure?
Choose Mimic. It’s the actively maintained browser and the recommended option for most new profiles.
Can I switch an existing profile between Mimic and Stealthfox?
No. The browser type is chosen when the profile is created. If you need a different browser type, create a new profile.
Browser core versions are different: Mimic cores are updated as new supported versions become available.
What happens when I stop a quick profile?
The quick profile is deleted when you stop it. Save it as a regular profile first if you want to keep the setup.
